(1) Cisgender person: A person who does not feel that he or she is of a gender other than that assigned at birth. The adjective cis is admittedly short for cisgender.

(2) Trans person: A trans person is a person who is not of the gender assigned at birth. The adjective trans is short for transgender. Other versions may exist, but they are specific to those concerned and should not be used by those not involved.

(3) Non-binary person: a person whose gender is not "male" or "female": this can be a combination, an absence (agenre), or another gender. Non-binary people are included in the trans experience. But some may not define themselves as trans. Each NB person may or may not have a need for medical and/or administrative transition.

(4) Intersex people: Intersex people are born with sexual characteristics (such as sexual anatomy, reproductive organs, hormonal functioning or chromosomal pattern) that do not correspond to conventional definitions of masculinity or femininity. Intersex people can have any gender identity or sexual orientation.
